Understanding Flood Risk - An Introduction

The next six chapters cover a range of science, land use and communication issues. For example, we are addressing the climate and meteorological data from Pennsylvania (and region) and the flood potential in the geography and hydrology of the upper Delaware watershed formed. We are also clarifying common misconception about the term "100-year flood". This will be followed by a statement of automated flood warnings from the National Weather Service that you receive onE-mail or telephone. Then we will see how the city of Easton, Pennsylvania has amended its land use codes and moved to a higher level of flood protection after a short three experienced damaging floods. Finally, we will live in a pro-active people, right along the banks of the river to see, to see how he and his family deal with flooding.
